Salary: £24,000 to £26,000 plus work/life balance, 25 days holiday PLUS Bank Holidays and buy or sell up to five days, car lease scheme etc.
My client, a Top 20 professional services organisation require an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team working in the office in Milton Keynes and on occasion, on client site.
As Bookkeeper, you will undertake bookkeeping duties, preparation of VAT returns and management information for a range of clients ensuring deadlines and proper accounting standards are met. (Management Accounts experience isn’t necessary as this is more of a transactional role).
Qualifications and Skills:
· 2 years or more of Bookkeeping experience in Practice environment
· Strong IT skills, including Word, Outlook and Excel, to an intermediate level for the production of letters and spreadsheets
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· Organised and methodical
· Client focused
· Carrying out tasks with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy
· Time management skills
· Ability to operate strict deadlines and handle conflicting priorities
· Ability to work under own initiative
· Ability to keep calm under pressure
· Experience of working within teams
Main Responsibilities
Bookkeeping
· To assist clients to process financial information
· Provide advice and recommendations to clients in relation to financial reporting matters
· Complete each assignment as far as possible before passing to the manager for review
· Complete VAT returns for allocated clients
Client Relations
· Develop and maintain good client relations
· Liaise with clients directly or through relevant manager to resolve queries or obtain further information
· Ensure a high level of service to meet client’s expectations
· Ensure that all hours worked on assignments are correctly recorded
· Make timely and relevant recommendations in relation to accounting matters, financial reporting and accounting systems in use (including software)
Communications
Bookkeeping Manager
· Daily regarding work planning, time management and any issues regarding completing work
· Principals and Portfolio Managers
· Regularly to discuss client’s requirements and time budgets
Clients
· Daily regarding information for completing bookkeeping work
Problems and Issues
· Ensure information arrives on time for bookkeeping work
· Keeping calm under pressure
· Ensure deadlines and client expectations are met
