Our clients’ developers impact millions of people every day through their range of healthcare software systems. They are looking for a talented and experienced Database Architect to join their Architecture team.
The post holder will work with multi-skilled Agile Development teams. You will perform a critical role in the ongoing development of core products by providing expertise on the back-end data tier which includes the efficient access and storage of application data. This includes schema design, stored procedure development and tuning, knowledge of storage patterns and helping to guide the development teams on best practices for managing application data.
The person we are looking for will need to have 5+ years of commercial experience with Microsoft SQL Server as a database architect, who can demonstrate a real passion for crafting performant and resilient storage solutions, with a flexible and creative attitude, good communication skills and a strong work ethic.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Must Have:
· Good written and oral communication skills
· Strong database design and development skills
· Excellent knowledge of the SQL Database Engine including strong T-SQL experience
· Experience of performance monitoring, index tuning and query optimization
· Thorough understanding of database security practises
· Database Administration including installs/backup/restore/replication
· Experience working with databases in excess of 1Tb
· Solid experience of cloud database and storage technology, such as:
· Azure SQL
· Cosmos DB
· Blob and table storage
· A proven track record of delivering successful projects
Advantageous:
· Health Care and Clinical systems
· Knowledge of third-party toolkits, e.g. RedGate
· Experience working within an Agile development environment
· Developed high availability multi-user system
· Knowledge of source code management principals
· Microsoft certification(s)
The individual will have a workload covering (but not limited to):
· Provide technical guidance on strategic decisions in the area of databases and storage
· Advising Agile SQL developers on SQL best practise
· Working with other database developers to deliver projects in a timely fashion
· All aspects of performance analysis and tuning
· Advising technical teams on operational best practise to achieve a resilient and performant data platform
· Ensuring that development processes help create high-quality products
· Assisting in troubleshooting support issues in real-time
· Creating solutions that fit well within the existing estate and methodology
· Keeping up to date with emerging technologies and advising how they can be used to improve the existing architecture
