Salary: £40,000 to £45,000
The Information Governance Manager will ensure compliance with Information Governance standards and Data Protection requirements to establish a safe and legally compliant organisation. You will provide advice and guidance to the organisation’s staff and customers on IG issues as well as liaising with Senior Management, Product Managers, Development, Clinical Safety and Technical Infrastructure Security managers as appropriate. The role will take a holistic IG approach to how the corporate, customer and product needs are met, maintained and continually approved.
Experience and Skills:
· Experience of working within an Information Governance setting
· An understanding of the NHS definitions
· An up-to-date understanding of the issues, concepts, legal and technical requirements of data protection legislations, NHS and Department of Health related IG requirements.
· Experience with information systems, processes and uses of information with the NHS.
· Hold a qualification in relation to Data Protection , GDPR or Information Governance
Key Skills:
· Ability to provide advice and guidance to all levels of stakeholders around IG.
· Ability to produce reports that evaluate and present complex data in an understandable way.
· Have a high degree of competence in the use of Microsoft Office and desktop applications and can demonstrate good skills with respect to database and spread sheet management.
· Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to use laptops, projectors and other presentation equipment effectively.
· Ability to work in a pressurised environment.
· Ability to meet deadlines.
· Ability to respond to unpredictable work patterns and interruptions.
· Ability to work as part of a team or in a stand-alone capacity.
· Available for ad hoc travel
Job Description:
· Ensure the company complies with applicable IG standards, guidance, completing the assessments and processes required within the prescribed deadlines.
· Consider the corporate information governance requirements in relation to records management, policies, procedures and guidance documentation.
· Act as deputy Data Protection Officer in the absence of the DPO
· Assist in the collation, documentation, and review of data in consideration of asset and data management.
· Assist with the management of the Record of Processing Activities.
· Manages compliance and an accurate and timely completion of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
· Monitors, maintains and reviews any Information Governance and linked incidents.
· Assist and contribute to the clinical safety cases for product releases providing IG assurances and confirming that changes do not contravene the IG compliance.
· Provide input and respond to queries raised by customers relating to IG processes and controls of products.
· Develop staff awareness training course materials in respect of Information Governance (IG).
· Ensure new starters undertake timely awareness training in respect of IG and that all staff receive annual refresher awareness training on IG.
· Support the development of software by providing IG domain expertise as required.
· Liaising with colleagues in deployment areas to give advice and assist in problem solving in relation to IG.
· Co-ordinate and deliver knowledge transfer as required ensuring colleagues have an overview of their requirements to be compliant with Information Governance .
· Provide feedback on IG compliance to senior management.
· Provide support as required to the IG function across the wider group.
· Keep up to date with legislation in relation to The Data Protection Act, GDPR, Caldicott principles, Common Law of Confidentiality, Human Rights Act, Freedom of Information Act, Computer Misuse Act, as well as the NHS and Department of Health related IG policies.
